I am an educator a videographer an instructional designer focused on creating well-rounded citizens aesthetically pleasing media exceptional educational experiences


Excellent teaching is characterized by individuals with a passion for learning and educating others. I take pride in knowing that I embody these characteristics through my pursuits in music education, instructional technology and videography. My passion has always been for sharing music with others whether on the concert stage, in the classroom or through multimedia.

Kristine Mutchler is a seasoned music educator with a deep knowledge in primary and secondary education, instructional technology, and audio and video recording and post-production.

She has degrees from Northern Illinois University in Music Performance and Music Education. She will complete a Master's in Instructional Technology with a certificate in Distance Education in December 2016.

An active assistant engineer, she works for Aphorism Studios Inc.; A small/mid-scale media production enterprise.

My Skill Sets

Video Capture & Post-Production

Using state of the art video and audio equipment, members of the Aphorism Studios team capture up to 12 angles of video with multi-channel audio for clients in the greater midwest area. As an assistant engineer I have recorded live, private recitals and talking head events as well as studio recordings for competitions and promotional material.

Instructional Technology

As a masters student in Instructional Technology I have taken courses in distance education, design principles, instructional media design, educational software development as well as ethics courses. My field experience includes designing and/or converting secondary and higher education courses into online modules.

K-12 Music Education

My experience teaching music in the sub-specialties of general music, choir and band has pushed me to become an excellent educator, striving daily to deliver my lessons with passion and zeal. I've been able to hone both my instructional technology and videography skill set through designing creative lessons for students of all ages.

Quick Facts


I've performed with the NIU Wind Symphony on their recent CD Concerto's for Brass: the Music of Thomas Bough released on Summit Records.


I've worked in partnership with NIU Bright Futures by teaching a real time, interactive elementary music lesson to three local libraries simutaneously through the use of LOLA technology.

Course Design

I've designed, implemented and evaluated a secondary music technology course that integrated CCSS and ISTE standards.


I've written successful grants for a classroom set of Malmark Hand Chimes and hosting an African dancing workshop. Both grants were provided by the DeKalb Education Foundation.

DeKalb District 428 Assistant High School Band Director & Elementary General Music Specialist

  • Teaches 300 students (twenty-six classes per week) grades K-5
  • Lead band of 50 students in concerts and contests

  • Taught daily small group lessons to 6th-8th grade band students
